Milford’s thrilling comeback ends with controversial buzzer-beater

MILFORD, Del. – Tuesday’s rematch between Milford and Smyrna came down to the wire, with the game ending on a controversial buzzer-beater.

The Eagles led for much of the game, including a 33-23 halftime lead.

But Milford refused to go away, cutting the lead to 7 heading into the 4th quarter.

A corner three from Xevian Green tied the game with just over two minutes to go. Smyrna regained the lead and attempted to run the clock out, but a steal and transition layup from the Bucs tied the game at 52 with 17 seconds to play.

Milford got a stop on the following possession, leading to a missed layup from Michael Mullen (who led the team with 16 points), but senior Daiymir Collins was there for the follow right at the buzzer.

Officials deemed that Collins did get the shot off in time. Milford beats Smyrna 54-52.
