Governor Wes Moore signs executive order to strengthen Maryland’s business climate

MARYLAND. – Maryland Governor Wes Moore has signed an executive order to strengthen the state’s business climate. The initiative includes several items to help make the state economically competitive.

The plan is expected to generate over $1.5 billion over the next 25 years. This will help produce more than 200 jobs and apply more than $4 million in state and local tax revenue annually.

The hope is to make Maryland’s economy more competitive and equitable.  The President of the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce, Bill Chambers is glad the state is making these changes to be competitive.

“The leadership of the general assembly has to recognize that our corporate income tax is scaring away businesses. It’s also forcing businesses to make decisions to leave the state, so the Maryland General Assembly and the leadership need to figure out a way to make Maryland look competitive. Then they have to back it up by making it more competitive.”

The 447th session of the General Assembly will reconvene in Annapolis on January 8th.
