Community searching for answers following Monday night shooting

SALISBURY, Md.- Tevin Mumford was a name known by many on the West side of Salisbury. Now, the community is searching for answers after his life was cut short.

He was called the dart king for his exceptional dart playing skills. You could often find Mumford posted outside of the Westside Cash Market playing a game of darts with his friends.
On Monday evening, that’s exactly where loved ones said Mumford was when he was shot and killed.

“It’s been hard on me, it’s like we do well checks on each other; he called me every day,” said Mumford’s cousin, Rashana Bratten.

The shooting is currently under investigation by Maryland State Police. We spoke with Mumford’s best friend and cousin, Keonte Bratten, who believes he wasn’t a target, and the shooting was just a random act of violence.

“Tevin is not hated by people, he’s always on the scene. He’s always out and about, so I just feel like this was just a silly decision made on some silly people,” Keonte said.

Rashana is calling whoever fired the gun to come forward, to bring justice to Mumford’s loved ones.

“Whoever did it, hopefully they come forward. It’s rare that you can take a human’s life and you’re able to live with it; you have to be a complete monster to be able to live with taking another human being’s life,” Rashana said.
