Westover mobile home fire sends 85-year-old man to hospital

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire in Westover that sent an 85-year-old man to the hospital.
At around 8:30 Saturday morning, firefighters with the Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company responded to a mobile home fire on Green Hill Lane in Westover. Officials say it took 20 firefighters approximately 30 minutes to control the blaze.
The 85-year-old resident of the mobile home was reportedly transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment. He was subsequently released.
Investigators say the fire was accidental and caused by an overloaded power strip. It is unknown if a smoke alarm was present in the structure. The damages are estimated at $5,000 for the structure and $2,000 for the contents within, officials said.
