Man gets 9 years in prison in heroin ring bust

(AP) – A Newark man charged in what federal authorities say was the largest seizure of prepackaged heroin in Delaware history has been sentenced to more than nine years in prison.

Twenty-nine-year-old Abdul Haye was sentenced this week after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and heroin.

Haye, a four-time convicted felon, had faced a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

Prosecutors say Haye, who was arrested last year, conspired with his brothers and others in a large-scale heroin and fentanyl distribution operation that included a Dominican drug source of supply, seven other individuals who helped repackage drugs, and several women used to transport drugs.
