Salisbury man arrested for reportedly assaulting woman

John Alex Bononno, 53, of Salisbury, Md.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says a Salisbury man was arrested and charged Tuesday afternoon after allegedly assaulting a woman at the home they share.

At around 2:46 PM, a deputy responded to a residence in the 28000 block of Log Cabin Road to reports of a woman yelling at a man in the driveway. The deputy made contact with the woman, who reportedly claimed that she and 53-year-old John A. Bononno had been in an argument that became violent.

Officials say the woman told the deputy that Bononno punched her in the chest and threw her around inside, smashing her into the kitchen counter and cabinets. The deputy, who reportedly observed injuries on the woman, arrested Bononno and took him to the Central Booking Unit.

Bononno is charged with second degree assault and was detained in the Wicomico County Detention Center in default of a $25,000 bond.
