Ocean Pines house fire ruled arson

OCEAN PINES, Md. – The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office says a house fire in Ocean Pines has been deemed arson.

The fire broke out at around 5:40 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of Ocean Parkway. Firefighters responded to the scene and learned that a male resident was still inside the home. Crews were able to get into the home and found a small fire in a bedroom, which they were able to quickly extinguish the blaze. The occupant was able to evacuate without injury.

Further investigation revealed that the fire in the bedroom was intentionally set, and criminal charges are being pursued at this time.
