Local shoppers scoring big on Black Friday
SALISBURY, Md. – Whether it was a door buster or a BOGO promotion, shoppers took to local stores across Delmarva to score deals on gifts that’ll go under the Christmas tree.
“I think we had a great experience today; very polite people, and it does make for a very nice holiday season,” said shopper Carol Everhart.
Everhart was on a mission to get in and out of stores on her Black Friday trip. She said this year, retailers, like Vernon Powell Shoes, thought smarter when staffing.
“I think in years past, it kind of was deterring when the lines would form and people were not as gentle with each other as they could be,” Everhart said.
“I think the difference this year is that many of the stores are staffing to the level of anticipation, of the number of people that are coming in,” Everhart added.
With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, younger consumers said it’s important to save that extra cash, to get them through the rest of the year.
“I was able to get some cowboy boots and some shirts for some friends,” said shopper Holly Todd. “I am in college, so I just have to be a little bit more money conscious.”
But it’s not just the Zoomers keeping a close eye on the price tag, the Boomers also have their mind on the money. And first time Black Friday shopper, Joseph Brummell, said he made sure he only got the best deals.
“I was just browsing around to see some of the prices, and if I can afford to buy something,” Brummell said. “I am a senior citizen, so I have to budget myself very well.”
For Todd, this shopping trip was more than just a new pair of boots and some graphic tees.
“You can see everyone’s just really trying to get together for the Holiday spirit,” Todd said.
