Police find 11 lbs. of marijuana during traffic stop

In Georgetown, police have arrested a man for drug possession after conducting a traffic stop Saturday afternoon.

According to authorities, around 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon, police were patrolling Dupont Boulevard when officers saw a red Chevy Cruz traveling southbound on Dupont committing, what police say, were several traffic violations.

During the traffic stop, officers smelled an odor of marijuana.

A Delaware State Police narcotics K9 unit was called and police were able to find 11 lbs. of marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle.

The driver, 40-year-old Elton McCormick, of Virginia Beach, was arrested and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $4,200 secured bond

McCormick is being charged with possession of marijuana at a Tier 5 quantity, possession with the intent to deliver marijuana, Tier 4 quantity, and several traffic violations.
