Hurlock building heavily damaged after catching fire twice in same day

HURLOCK, Md. – A commercial building in Dorchester County caught fire twice on Wednesday, causing heavy damage.

The first fire was reported at around 1:45 p.m., at 4881 Milligantown Road. The fire was upgraded to a second alarm with a tanker task force, and was placed under control in roughly 30 minutes. Further investigation revealed that the fire was caused by an electrical failure. Damage was estimated at $400,000.

Just before 10 p.m., firefighters were called back to the scene after the fire rekindled. Crews worked for one hour to control the blaze the second time around.

The building was unoccupied for both fires.

Damage from the second fire was estimated at $250,000.
