$3 million Bequest heads to Talbot County Education Foundation
TALBOT COUNTY, Md – Talbot County Schools are announcing a record-breaking bequest to help benefit their students.
3 million dollars from Carol Ruth Lofstedt’s Revocable Trust will be heading to the Talbot County Public Schools Education Foundation, established through the Mid-Shore Community Foundation.
This bequest is made in memory of Dr. Joyce Arline Goodwin, Ms. Lofstedt’s long-time partner. The women were both passionate about education throughout their lives, with the school district saying it is by far the biggest donation they have ever received.
“We’ll be able to utilize this for many years into the future, even if we do get as many grants as we hope to,” adding “We are in the process of completing a new strategic plan. In our stakeholder interviews, it was clear that teachers and students need additional support, sometimes for even the most basic of supplies.”
The money will help fund equipment like band instruments, and school supplies, as well as planning for future students’ needs.
