Fatal motorcycle crash in Westover under investigation, charges pending

Maryland State Police say they responded to a fatal accident involving a motorcycle last Wednesday at U.S. Route 13 and Md. Route 413 in Westover.

Police report 63-year-old Kenneth Kunie was killed when he was riding a 1980 Honda motorcycle southbound on Route 13 and a 2005 Chrysler 300 pulled out in front of him.

The driver of the Chrysler allegedly failed to yield to southbound traffic when attempting to make a left turn from Route 413 onto northbound Route 13.

Police say Kunie was ejected from the motorcycle and struck a third vehicle, a Nissan van stopped at the intersection behind where the Chrysler pulled out from.

Kunie was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Officials report the driver of the Chrysler was treated for minor injuries at McCready Hospital.

The accident is still under investigation and charges are pending, police said.
