MidShore ProBono becomes Shore Legal Access, as rebrand hopes to expand impact and access

SALISBURY, Md – MidShore ProBono is announcing a rebrand, thanks to a grant from the Rural Maryland Grant Council, becoming Shore Legal Access, a name that the organization says makes its mission more clear and more accessible.

Director Meredith Girard tells 47ABC she has seen services expand out if the Salisbury area for at least 5 years and wanted to make sure the name reflected the level of access offered.

They say they are gearing up to pivot staff and resources to make their Salisbury location their flagship office, offering services from eviction representation, family law, no-contest adoptions, and more.

“Our offices, we’ve had to move them because we’ve expanded staff, and so we now have an office space where folks can stop in and get assistance in Salisbury, which is super exciting, our staff has doubled also in Salisbury and we stand ready to assist folks who need that kind of help,” Girard said.

She tells us her organization will also be able to help ramp up their eviction caseload, as 400,000 dollars of state money is helping to fund their work as part of a 2021 renters rights bill passed by the Maryland State House.

“It’s so important that renters have these rights, they show up and even this playing field,” she said.

A formal unveiling of the rebranded name is scheduled for October 18th outside of their Salisbury location.
