Local diner closes after nearly three decades
This coming Sunday, the town of Pittsville will bid a fond farewell to a local mainstay—the Pittsville Diner.
Dave White has owned the restaurant for almost three decades, but in five days he will be closing its doors for good.
Although the diner has seen success, White admits business has been struggling. And over the recent years he says he has lost customers to popular chain restaurants.
White purchased the diner in 1988 and has kept it open seven days a week ever since — except for on Christmas Day.
White told 47 ABC he is grateful to have served thousands of meals to his customers.
“All I have to say is we've appreciated the past patronage and the many friends that we've made over the years. And for the most part, I've enjoyed it and I looked forward to coming here every day,” White said.
Closing day is Sunday, January 29 at 7:30 P.M. And to his employees and customers, White says "thanks for the memories".
