Road closure planned in Mardela Springs next week

MARDELA SPRINGS, Md. – Highway officials plan to replace an underground pipe on MD 54 next week. Officials say motorists can expect single-lane closures with flaggers on hand Monday through Friday 7AM-5PM.

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is replacing the pipe on MD 54 (Delmar Road) near MD 313 (Sharptown Road) in Mardela Springs. The project is expected to start Tuesday August 29 and be completed by Friday September 1, weather permitting. The State Highway Administration says they understand lane closures can be an inconvenience, but this work is necessary to ensure a safe and reliable transportation system. Motorists are asked to reduce speeds approaching and while in active work zones.
