UPDATE: Tuesday morning crash on Route 13 turns fatal
SALISBURY, Md. – Officials have confirmed that the crash on the S-curve in Salisbury Tuesday morning has claimed the life of a Princess Anne woman.
According to the Salisbury Police Department, the crash happened at around 7 a.m. at the intersection of S. Salisbury Boulevard (Route 13) and S. Division Street. When officers arrived on scene they located a silver 2006 Cadillac flipped over and resting on the railroad tracks.
Further investigation revealed that the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 55-year-old Regina Tyrell Burnette, was traveling northbound on Route 13 when she failed to negotiate the left hand curve of the road for unknown reasons, striking a curb and telephone pole at the intersection. Burnette’s vehicle flipped over as a result and came to a rest on the railroad tracks, trapping Burnette inside the vehicle.
Burnette was taken to PRMC for medical treatment, where she died as a result of her injuries Tuesday evening.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone that was traveling in the area between the hours of 6:45 a.m. and 7 a.m. Tuesday and may have witnessed the crash to contact the Salisbury Police Department at 833-SBY-CITY.
