One local woman says she’s marching to “Remind Trump”

Local woman says why she's marching in DC

An estimated quarter of a million women and others will march on the nation's capital Saturday to stand for women's rights civil rights as part of the Women's March on Washington.

One local woman, Susan Land, said she's marching to remind President Trump about what she feels he may have lost track of.

"He has to remember that women are women and we have rights and he can't take them away. He has to remember that black people are citizens of the United States and we can't take their civil rights away. He has to remember that we have Muslims who are American, can't take that away," Land said.

Land also believes Trump shouldn't turn a blind eye to crimes against humanity and use history as a reminder as to why that's important.

"I also want to make sure he remembers that things like the holocaust happened and things like that are still happening and we can't just ignore people that need our help that's not what America does," Land said.

Land's views aren't far off from the mission of the national group that organized the march.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     According to the women's march on Washington website they believe they need to march because"the rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized and threatened many of us."

Their website goes on to read that this march is the first step in unifying our communities and creating change from the grassroots level.
