Salisbury man sentenced on first degree assault charges

SALISBURY, Md. – A Wicomico County man is facing 60 years behind bars following his conviction on assault and firearms charges.

25-year-old Arnell Bivens Jr. was convicted on three counts of first degree assault and three counts of possession and use of a firearm during the commission of a crime, back in November 2018.

The charges date back to an incident that happened in December 2017, at a home in the 800 block of Parker Road in Salisbury. Bivens allegedly went to the victim’s home and pointed a handgun at three people, before fleeing the area. Police captured Bivens a short time later and located a loaded handgun, which Bivens is prohibited from possessing in the State of Maryland.

Bivens will serve his 60 year sentence consecutive to 18 years of active incarceration on distribution of narcotics charges, which he was convicted of in May 2018.
