DSP investigating fatal crash in Georgetown

 

 

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened in the Georgetown area Saturday evening.

According to police, at around 5 p.m., a 2020 Ford Eco Sport was traveling westbound on Lewes-Georgetown Highway, just west of Fawn Lane. For unknown reasons, the Ford reportedly veered off the north edge of the roadway and began spinning out of control before hitting a large tree off the roadway.

The 27-year-old Georgetown man who was driving the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next of kin.

Lewes-Georgetown Highway was closed at Fawn Lane for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and the roadway was cleared.
