Take Pride in Berlin Week returns, supports local nonprofits
BERLIN, Md.- Berlin residents, it’s time to get out and show how much you love your town. This week marks 8th the annual Take Pride in Berlin Week.
The event always falls on the week leading up to Earth Day. What’s new this year is that the town decided to give back to several local nonprofits.
Each day this week, one of those nonprofits will be out at the Welcome Center on Main Street. Monday, The Grace Center kicked off the celebration.
Town officials say the goal is to help them fundraise and get the word out about the great work happening in the community. “They are located near the hospital so its giving them the opportunity to come on to Main Street where there’s a lot of foot traffic,” Economic & Community Development Department’s Allison Early said.
“All of these nonprofits do a really great job at giving back to our community. By us helping them, we can directly help our community and take pride in Berlin.”
Other nonprofits being highlighted this week include We Heart Berlin, the Taylor House Museum, and Worcester Youth & Family Services.
The week wraps up with a community cleanup on Earth Day this Saturday, April 22nd.
