Vehicle stolen from Milford recovered in Bridgeville traffic stop
SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. – A senior citizen and two teens are facing charges in connection to a vehicle theft.
Delaware State Police (DSP) say 71-year-old Alton Jones of Seaford, 18-year-old Daveon Showell and a 16-year-old of Bridgeville were arrested during a traffic stop Saturday morning.
Around 9:15 a.m., a DSP trooper patrolling the area of Coverdale Road and Mill Park Drive in Bridgeville saw a Dodge Grand Caravan on the road without registration. The Dodge was revealed to be stolen from Milford in a computer search, police say.
The trooper pulled the vehicle over, and found the three subjects inside. All three were reportedly arrested without incident. Searching the vehicle, police say they found 0.03 grams of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a pair of nunchucks. Police say Jones and Showell are both convicted felons, and prohibited from possessing weapons.
Jones is charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and receiving a stolen vehicle. He is also charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited with a prior violent felony conviction, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jones was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court #3, and taken to Sussex Correctional Institution on $35,400 secured bond.
Showell is charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and receiving a stolen vehicle. He is also charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited with a prior violent felony conviction, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Showell was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court #3, and taken to Sussex Correctional Institution on $35,400 secured bond.
The 16-year-old is charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and receiving a stolen vehicle. He is also charged with possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The 16-year-old was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court #3, and released to a guardian without bond.
