Offense falters late for Delmar in loss to Walkersville

The Delmar boys basketball team suffered a tough loss Tuesday morning when they fell to Walkersville in the opening round of the Governor's Challenge 54-42. The Wildcats will now face off against Washington on the losers side of the bracket.
The Wildcats would come out ready to play early on. Brooks Parker would be a force down low, collecting rebounds and getting put backs to give his team a lead after the first. But Walkersville eventually found a bit of a rhythm. Davis Kelley would be able to connect on a long jumper before Josh Polee would find his groove as well. Delmar found themselves within striking distance in the third as their outside shots began to fall. Evan Schuyler would drill a long ball, followed by on from Parker. Dante Trader would then get into the mix, getting into the paint for a couple scores near the rim. But Walkersville would grab control of the game by working their way to the free throw line where they were able to build a double digit lead and put the game away.
