DNREC highlights importance of recycling

Delaware environmental officials are highlighting the importance of recycling this holiday season.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control says throughout the holidays, Americans throw away 25% more trash than any other time of the year, which includes packaging, wrapping and boxes. Officials are instead reminding people to reduce their waste line by recycling their Christmas tree and other boxes, packages, tags, and cars.

DNREC also recommends that people collect and reuse certain items, take plastic bags back to stores, and donate usable items.
