Victim identified in fatal Ellendale crash

ELLENDALE, Del. – Delaware State Police have identified the victim in Saturday night’s fatal crash in Ellendale.

At around 10:05 p.m.,  2007 Honda Accord being driven by a 28-year-old Georgetown man was traveling northbound on N. DuPont Boulevard in the right lane, roughly a half mile south of Beach Highway, at a high rate of speed. At this time, a 2016 Ford Explorer was unoccupied and disabled on a private drive east of N. DuPont Boulevard. Police say the driver of the Accord made an aggressive lane change from the right to left lane to avoid hitting a vehicle traveling in front of it when the driver lost control, spun, and veered off the edge of the roadway where it hit the side of the disabled Explorer.

The 28-year-old driver of the Accord was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries. Police say impairment appears to be a factor, and toxicology results are pending.

The 19-year-old front seat passenger of the Accord was not restrained and was airlifted to Christiana Hospital, where he was admitted with serious injuries.

The 33-year-old back seat passenger of the Accord, who was also not restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was since been identified as Dolman Ubaldo Jimenez-Perez of Georgetown.

The crash remains under investigation.
