DENTON, Md. – The Caroline County Public Library in Denton recently hosted a Literary Evening for the public, which proved to be a huge success.

We’re told the event was sold out and featured good food, entertainment, words, and wit. A selection of Lewis Carroll’s writings were brought to life by an enthusiastic cast of characters, including Alice, Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum, the Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit.

Local quilters entered Alice in Wonderland-themed quilts and wall hangings in a quilt contest. The award for Most Artistry went to Linda Donahue’s Ms., while the Most Craftsmanship award went to Helen Rolling’s Tea Time. Monica Agapaloglou won the Most Whimsical award for More Tea, and was voted the People’s Choice by the event’s audience.

Linda Donahue’s Ms. and Lisa Orendorf’s Tea Time were donated to the Fiber Arts Center of the Eastern Shore (FACES) for a silent auction. All of the quilts are on display at the Fiber Arts Center, located at 7 N. Fourth Street, in Denton, from now through November 24th.

The Caroline County Council of Arts and the Caroline County Public Library co-sponsor this annual event.
