UPDATE: DSP Seeks Assistance Locating Car Connected to Fatal Seaford Hit-and-Run

UPDATE: The Delaware State Police is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a vehicle of interest regarding the fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of 73-year-old Michael Barrett last Friday.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the above pictured red/maroon vehicle. Investigators believe the vehicle may have damage to the right front headlight area. 

Investigators are asking anyone with information relevant to this crash investigation to contact Master Corporal K. Argo by calling (302) 644-5020. UPDATE: The Delaware State Police identified 73-year-old Michael Barrett, of Seaford, Delaware, as the man who died in the fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred Friday afternoon in Seaford.

This crash remains under investigation.

SEAFORD, Del. – A 73-year-old Seaford man was killed Friday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, according to Delaware State Police.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:10 p.m. Friday on Woodpecker Road, west of Butler Branch Road. Police said the bicyclist was riding eastbound along the south edge of the roadway when an unknown vehicle traveling in the same direction struck him before leaving the scene without stopping. 

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of family members. 

Investigators believe the suspect vehicle may have damage to its passenger side, possibly near the turn signal housing. The roadway remained closed for about four hours while members of the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
