Magnolia man arrested after drugs, handgun found during traffic stop
DOVER, Del. – A Magnolia man is behind bars on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop.
At around 6 p.m. Tuesday, members of the Delaware State Police Kent County Governor’s Task Force were on patrol in the area of S. Dupont Highway and Webbs Lane when they observed a black Hyundai Elantra make a lane change without signaling. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle, and on contact with the driver, identified as 20-year-old Tyler Shabazz, an odor of marijuana was smelled coming from inside the car.
A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, leading to the discovery of approximately 440 grams of marijuana, a loaded 9mm handgun, four magazines, numerous rounds of 9mm ammunition, a digital scale, and over $250 in suspected drug money.
Shabazz was subsequently arrested and charged with possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a tier 1 quantity, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to signal. He was held at SCI on a $27,001 secured bond.
