Early morning crash kills one in Berlin

BERLIN, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating a crash that killed one person early Saturday morning.

Police say around 6:15 a.m., troopers responded to Route 113 (US 113) and Georgetown Road for a single-vehicle crash. When troopers arrived, they found a Ford Crown Victoria engulfed in flames in the middle of the road.

Investigators say the driver was traveling northbound on US 113 when the vehicle spun into trees on the side of the road. Police believe inclement weather may have caused the crash. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 33-year-old Miguel Carrion of Snow Hill. Carrion was taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital, where he is being treated for injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
