Delmar Field Hockey State Title Preview

The Delmar field hockey finds themselves in a familiar spot; on the brink of making history. The Wildcats punched their ticket to the 2016 DIAA State Championship game with a 2-0 win over Polytech Tuesday night and earned the opportunity to yet again compete for a title.
The only question is, what comes next?
Delmar has been in this position before in 2015.
And 2013. And 2012. And 2011…
But what about 2016? Will this finally be the Wildcats year?
Delmar comes into the match as confident as ever, as understandably so. Speed, talented and experienced have led them to a 14-1 record, outscoring their opponents 105-8 on the way. The pressure will be on the Wildcats going into the game, but once the game starts, expect Delmar to be putting the pressure on Tower Hill.
If Delmar is able to come home with the title Friday night, it would not only be the first championship in program history, but it would be the schools first title in a sport other than football. It would be the first championship in a girls sport in school history. And it would be so much more than that too. It would be a title for each of the teams that came up just short the past few years, as well as serve prove what is possible for teams to come.
Simply put, a championship would be nothing short of historic for all of Delmar.
