Fire in East New Market causes $20k in damages Saturday morning

EAST NEW MARKET, Md. – The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire that damaged a building Saturday morning. The fire broke out in a one-story wood frame pole building around in the area of Goose Creek Road at 10:33 a.m.

Investigators say the fire was sparked by an unattended steamer pot on an exterior pole of the building. No one was hurt in the fire, but it caused about $20,000 in damage. The East New Market Volunteer Fire Department was able to get the fire under control in about 25 minutes.
