Perdue rolls out new environmental goals for 2022

Just in time for Earth Day coming up on April 22nd, Perdue Farms has rolled out new goals to lower their carbon footprint.
These initiatives focus on reducing greenhouse gases, water use, and solid waste. Perdue farms hoping to reduce their carbon footprint by 30 percent by 2022.
In the next five years, they will be focusing on increasing their diversion of landfills to 90 percent while also making five of their facilities "certified zero waste to landfill".
They are also making strides to turn their waste into something useful.
"One of the things we have been working on and have worked on since 2001 is our Perdue agriculture facility. We're actually making a certified organic fertilizer there and now were doing compost there and taking waste and making it into compost," explains Steve Levitsky, VP of Sustainability for Perdue.
Levitsky says Perdue will roll out annual reports to show the progress in meeting these 2022 goals.
