Budget, infrastructure, jobs at the top of Gov. Carney’s list for upcoming session
DELAWARE – The Delaware General Assembly will be getting back to work at Legislative Hall in just a few weeks.
Governor John Carney says one of the top items on his agenda is making sure the state’s budget is balanced.
“Our biggest priority always is getting a good, strong budget that responsibly spends the taxpayer money that comes our way. We’re fortunate in that we’ve been conservative and responsible, during the pandemic, with respect to spending. So, we’re in a pretty good fiscal position,” he said.
Governor Carney also says he wants to focus more on job creation in the coming year.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to do big infrastructure projects. These are projects that could be transformative for our economy and create more jobs,” he said. “We’re going to be using some of those federal resources to train and retrain Delawareans for those jobs. That will be a big challenge for us, and just responsibly putting those dollars to good use for the benefit of the people in our state.”
The Delaware General Assembly will convene for the 2022 session on January 11th.
