Fair spotlights Delaware’s agriculture industry

One of the purposes of the Delaware Stare Fair is to promote agriculture in The First State.  All along Holloway Street Fairgoers can learn about Delaware's top industry.

All of the state's agricultural commodities can be found along Holloway, including corn, soybeans, wheat, poultry, as well as live stock fruits and vegetables.

If you stop at the 4H building, exhibits are set up to teach children the importance of agriculture.

"Everything is changing, everything needs a new set of eyes.  Our youth is our future, and their knowledge and their work will make changes in the future," said Doug Crouse, the 4H Program leader with the University of Delaware.

More than 99 percent of Delaware farms are family owned, spanning 500,000 acres of farmland.

Also at the fair are local Farmer's Markets, another opportunity to connect with the workers who raise the food for The First State.
