School board announces funds for brand new consortium building

The Cape Henlopen School District announced Thursday they have secured funding through local legislators for the new Sussex County Consortium in Lewes.
The consortium serves children in Sussex County up to 21 years old, and will help local kids with disabilities, mainly autism.
We're told funding from a recent referendum was not enough to complete the facility, and that local legislators were able to secure an additional $13.3 million.
This new building will include new ways for children with disabilities in Sussex County to learn.
"This building will offer things like vocational classrooms where our students will have real life work experiences. It'll have a full wing of pre k classrooms meant specifically for those students. It'll have a therapy pool where those students can receive aquatic education," said CHSD board president Dr. Alison Myers.
We're told construction on the new Sussex County Consortium is scheduled to be complete by the fall of 2020.
