TEXAS ROADHOUSE

Lenita went to Texas Roadhouse for this week's Kitchen Insider

you covered. we recently visited for a sweet potato holiday side dish and it was easy to make and so delicious. take a look. track 1- if you think you know texas roadhouse, think again. the service is fun and warm, and what they offer in terms of food, just seems to keep getting better. hand cut steaks, fall off the bone ribs, made from scratch sides and salad dressings, fresh baked bread and ice cold beer and legendary hand made margaritas. track 2- and of course the buckets of peanuts in the shell right there on your table….that spells family fun. what a great time ,especially for a kid to be able to throw them on the floor, crunch them under their feet, and it’s a nice little appetizer for you while you’re waiting for your food track 3- nathan says they get very busy, especially on the weekend, but they pride themselves on a host of value nights through the week. kids night on tuesday, wild west wednesdays for an eight ounce sirloin for $9.99.we try to do different things to have people come out and enjoy themselves track 4- and speaking of someone enjoying themselves…we were making the loaded baked sweet potato with caramel sauce and toasted marshmallows…and i have to say…it was right up this southern girls alley. we bake our sweet potato for5 minutes on 450 degrees so they’re nice and soft.take out of oven and poke a few holes in them because they’ll be very hot. track 5- next, he made a cross in the potatoeswith a knife; pushed on both ends to open it up a bit.he put marshmallows in the potato first so…as he put it…the caramel would have something to hold onto.he added 2 ounces of their made in house caramel sauce, and added another handful of marshmallows on top..and then he put the potatoes back in the oven for a couple of minutes to toast the marshmallows. with ours nice and toasted to our liking, i picked up a fork and then…it was time. i’m a sweet potato girl and you can’t go wrong with marshmallows and caramel sauce….mmmmm…that’ s so good the caramel sauce was honey, brown sugar and butter. you heat in in a sauce pan and whisk together until blended. it was easy and delicious. the dish could be a side dish or a little dessert during dinner.either way…it’s a crowd pleaser for this crowd of one. texas roadhouse is located in fruitland across the parking lot from walmart. so be sure to check them out. and join us next week for another great round of cooking in kitchen insider. stay tuned… more news and weather straight ahead. good morning delmarva! it’s 6-30
