Camp Rehoboth participates in World AID Day to bring the community together to find a cure

29th anniversary of this global event. the movement strives to unite people in the fight against h-i-v.– and honor those have died with this disease. 47 abc’s justina coronel was at camp rehoboth earlier today– to talk about local efforts to participate in this world-wide effort. track 1 this little testing tube that pricks your finger– determines if you have h-i-v. in a matter of 15 minutes — you’re entire world can change. but knowing you have it — can do a world of good. by helping stop the disease from spreading. everyone should know their status if you are not in a monogamous relationship before you get into any relationship or if you’re in a relationship with multiple partners it’s so important that you know you’re status so you’re protecting your health, but also protecting your health of your sex partners track 2 in the state of delaware, more than 33-hundred people have been diagnosed with hiv or aids. the c-d-c estimates they may be about 3-hundred and 50 people — who may be infected — but don’t know it. camp rehoboth’s health and wellness program coordinator — sal seley — tells us they offer free h-i-v testing year round — as well as hosting an h-i-v prevention program. 11.41.30 we link them to care within a half hour of the initial diagnosis 11.41.35 track 3 but they promoted these services specifically for world aids day. besides helping folks with diagnosis — and connecting them with h-i-v wellness clinics — camp rehoboth can set people up with support groups. they are available for the newly diagnosed — or for long term survivors. and we’re told a big factor for those who are newly diagnosed — is the cost for treatments. those who do not have insurance may be pay thousands of dollars out of pocket. well adap and the ryan white program will basically cover all of the expenses so you are only paying maybe $4 prescription instead of a $1,000-$2,000 track 4 a-dap known as aids drug assistance program — provides f-d-a approved medications– to low-income people living with h-i-v who have limited or no health coverage. but the folks at camp rehoboth make it clear — they offer prevention and support services. but on world aids day — they’re also spreading the message of hope. we are united in making sure that we find a cure for hiv. track 5 justina coronel 47 abc. camp rehoboth will be hosting a a candle lit vigil tonight to remember those who have passed away from h-i-v and aids. if you want to find out more about world aids day– just logon to 47-abc-dot-com. coming up – with the passing of
