Dover Police Arrest 19-Year-Old After Firearms Invetsigation

DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department arrested a 19-year-old on gun charges on Monday following a firearms investigation.

Police have arrested Elijah Johnson on charges of carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possessing a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, and noncompliance with a protection from abuse complaint. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $50,000 cash bond. 

Prior to Johnson’s arrest, patrol officers reportedly observed him on surveillance video in the area of the State Street Alley in possession of a firearm. Further investigation led to Johnson’s identification, and that he was wanted on other charges. Using the information obtained by the patrol officers, the Dover Police Street Crimes and Drugs, Vice, and Organized Crime units conducted a firearms investigation on Johnson.

At 11:22 a.m. on Jun. 1, Johnson was contacted by officers and arrested in the 100 Block of South Governors Avenue with a 9mm handgun in his possession, containing no serial number.
