UPDATE: All Rt. 50 Lanes Reopened Following Serious Four-Car Crash in OC

UPDATE: Eastbound Route 50 at Old Bridge Road has been reopened following a serious car crash that occurred Tuesday morning.

Despite initial reports from the Ocean City Fire Department that the crash involved three vehicles, Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack says the collision involved four vehicles, prompting the closure of all lanes on the westbound side. Injuries have not been confirmed at this time.

According to the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Traffic Incidents & Events page, all lanes have been reopened as of 4:18 pm.

 

OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Ocean City Fire Department is on the scene of a serious three-vehicle accident in the area of Old Bridge Road and Route 50.

Officials say the accident was reported just after 11:30 a.m. and involved entrapment. Due to the severity of injuries sustained by passengers in the accident, one helicopter with Maryland State Police Aviation responded to the scene. An additional helicopter was requested from Delaware State Police Aviation.

Eastbound Ocean Gateway at Old Bridge Road is closed at this time. Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes if possible.
