Cambridge Police issue warning over mail fraud
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Cambridge Police are warning residents about possible fraud in the area. They say they have received a large number of reports of people having their checks that they have made out for payment on bills and mailed being stolen and then changed in amounts and being paid to other people. Police say most of the incidents happen after the alleged victims placed their checks in United States Post Office mailboxes throughout the City.
The following locations have been reported as involved drop-off spots:
- Locust St off High St
- Cambridge Market Place
- Peachblossom Ave off Washington St
The incidents were reported over the past several months. Police say the incidents are being investigated in collaboration with the United States Postal Inspectors.
