1 dead, and 1 stabbed just hours a part in Dover

DOVER, Del. – 1 man is now dead in Dover following a homicide on Sunday and this morning 1 man has been reported stabbed just hours later.

What started as a quiet Sunday in Dover quickly changed after reports of shots fired in the 900 block of wood crest drive. “Officers responded to the area and located the victim 28 year old Jeffrey Tolson on the ground he had sustained multiple gun shot wounds,” says Master Corporal Ryan Schmid.

An initial call for shots fired turned to a fatality. “We rendered first aid to him and he was transported to an area hospital where he later died,” said Master Corporal Schmid.

Dover police department also responded to a call early Monday morning on the grounds of saint Andrew’s Lutheran church for a victim suffering from stab wounds. “The victim was at a party up at the saint Andrew’s Lutheran church in Dover, he got into an altercation with what he described as a black male, tall, and skinny, with long hair at which point he was actually stabbed,” says Master Corporal Schmid.

The victim was taken to a private hospital and listed in non critical condition. Despite the two crimes unfolding 24 hours a part, police say there has not been a significant uptick in crime. “Usually November to December we have an increase in robberies and burglaries and things like that around the holiday season we haven’t seen that this year, however, I will note we’ve had 2 homicides in the past month,” says Master Corporal Schmid.

The investigation is ongoing as the suspect or suspects are still at large, however ,police believe there is not a serious threat to the community.

If you know anything about the incidents you can call Detective Bowman at 302-736-7141.
