Ben’s Red Swings Cleanup

SALISBURY, Md- Volunteers came together Saturday morning at Bens’s Red Wings in Salisbury City Park today to bring it back to looking brand new.

Volunteers replaced chains on the swings,  filled in new mulch and turf, and repainted all the jungle gyms.
over 100 volunteers had the job done by noon, with the park ready for the next year of kids of all ages to enjoy it.
Organizer Katherine Layton tells 47ABC that seeing all the volunteers and the park in great shape is a reminder of how much Ben Layton’s legacy means to Salisbury.

“I love it seeing the volunteers show up and dedicating hours of work and it is hard work we are moving sand and mulch so people are working hard it shows me the community still loves red swings it’s still important to me because it means they remember Ben as well,” Layton said.

The event is held each Saturday after Thanksgiving, and volunteers are welcome to register for next year’s event.

The park was first built in 2004, volunteers say it’s their mission to make it look brand new every year.
