City of Milford greenlights project for upgrades to downtown park

MILFORD, Del. – Memorial Park in downtown Milford will soon get a big makeover as the city has green lit a project for upgrades.

The moves comes after the city council’s approval and public input.

Upgrades will include a new children’s playground and the addition of 6 pickle ball courts.

Funding comes partially from the state, the city, and a grant from DNREC.

City officials tell 47ABC there was a need for additional recreational facilities to compliment the downtown river walk. “We feel that having a playground in that vicinity and pickle ball courts, which is the fastest growing sport in the nation, will really improve our existing parkland,” Director of Parks and Recreation Brad Dennehy.

Upgrades will also include 11 additional parking spaces and a picnic pavilion.

Officials hope to attract not only residents to the park but more visitors to come and experience the city.
