Paws on Pemberton gave Wicomico Humane Society animals new chance for adoption

Paws on Pemberton is run by the Wicomico Humane Society and that’s where they introduced people to adoptable dogs and cats.

The new, free event was a partnership between Wicomico County Recreation & Parks, the Humane Society of Wicomico County and Funny Farm Petting Zoo.

The event highlighted local rescues, adoptable dogs, music, vendors, pony rides, face painting and other family-friendly activities.

Event organizers say their needs for adoption are only getting higher, and events like these help to raise awareness and boost adoption.

“We are way over capacity right now we have dogs in crates in the hallways kittens stacked everywhere it is insane at the shelter so the turnout has been amazing people have come falling in love with our pets people are interested in taking cats home already so it has been great with the turnout we are very fortunate,” said event Coordinator Whitney Hoffman.

2 cats were adopted and one dog has had the paperwork finalized to begin adoption at the event.
