“Justice for all,” legislation signed to tackle Inequality
DELAWARE – More opportunity for Racial equity is on the way in the first state.
Delawareans will now have a consortium to discuss recommendations for inequities faced by minorities. Officials say House Bill 375 is necessary to not only further the education for minorities but also breaking barriers. “Its not exclusive work, its inclusive work, that’s why we call it justice for all,” says Senator Darius Brown.
With this justice for all agenda, the bill is designing a racial equity consortium. “That African American Taskforce would look at issues around a myriad of various things around public policy making and development here in the state of Delaware, around equity,” he adds.
To make it all work, Delawareans at all levels are coming together to make change. That includes some at Delaware State University. “Establishing a consortium, a think tank, a home, a hub to continue this policy-making work, and this hub this consortium housed at Delaware State University, where DSU and college students and public policy makers work together in thinking, crafting, and developing legislation and public policy that will benefit individuals in our state, ” says the Delaware Senator.
Senator Brown says this is important in order to make Delaware a more healthy and prosperous state. “For the residents in the state of Delaware just stay engaged in this process as we continue this policy making it is about legislation but is also even more important about the implementation of these policies…to ensure we’re improving the lives and the vitality for residents in the state of Delaware,” says the Senator.
Senator Brown tells says this will help bring information, education, and empowerment to the first state, that will ultimately benefit public policy and development. Senator Brown also says this bill could also pave the way for Delaware’s Black families to have room for upward mobility.
House Bill 447 was also signed into law Tuesday.
