The driver and passenger of the Volkswagen, a 69-year-old male and 69-year-old female from Lewes, were properly restrained. The driver was taken by ambulance to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition. The passenger was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
