Kent Island holds off late Easton rally
EASTON, Md. – Kent Island watched a 13-point fourth quarter lead evaporate, but held on for a tense 45-44 victory at Easton Thursday night.
Kent Island’s Aaron Robinson was the go-to guy in the first half, scoring 11 of his 14 points before halftime.
Easton was ice cold from the field for the first six-and-a-half minutes of the second quarter, as KI built a 13-point lead at one point. Shareef Curry’s buzzer beating 3-pointer on the run cut the deficit to just five at halftime.
The Bucs built their lead back to 13 early the fourth, but that’s when Easton went to work.
Shaun Moody scored a couple of fast-break buckets, Kevin O’Connor scored 5 of his 10 in the fourth, including hitting 3-of-4 from the charity stripe. Shareef Curry’s 3-pointer from the corner brought the Warriors within one.
Kent Island did just enough at the line, knocking down 4-of-7 free throws, and winning despite scoring just one field goal in the fourth quarter.
Bryce Ravanbaskin, along with Robinson, led the Bucs with 14, while Curry led Easton with 11.
