TidalHealth no longer allowing cloth masks in hospitals

DELMARVA – TidalHealth has changed its mask policy at both TidalHealth Peninsula Regional and TidalHealth Nanticoke.

We’re told starting today, January 17th, cloth masks will no longer be allowed for people arriving for procedures, testing, or as support persons where permitted. Officials say this is because cloth masks have proven to be less effective in preventing the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

TidalHealth officials are encouraging people to wear medical grade ear loop or N95 masks when entering hospitals. If you don’t have access to either, you should arrive in a cloth mask, and you will be given an ear loop mask to wear at all times during your stay.

There continues to be no patient visitation at this time at either hospital.
