Wicomico Co. Emergency Rental Assistance Program receives $5.5 million grant

WICOMICO CO., Md. – Wicomico County recently received an additional $5.5 million from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development to continue the Wicomico County Emergency Rental Assistance Program.

We’re told this grant brings the total amount of assistance provided to county citizens to $12,880,680. Wicomico County has assisted over 1,400 households in avoiding eviction, providing more than $5.5 million in direct assistance since the program began in June 2021.

Officials say this award will provide funding for up to 15 months of rental, utility and housing stability assistance, along with funding for Maryland Legal Aid for renters in need of legal services and assistance.
