Mandala Pies holds first annual 5K in Vienna

VIENNA, Md. – The Mandala Bakery in Vienna hosted their first annual 5K, featuring games, events like music, and a free slice of pie for those who finished the race.

Known as the race through historic Vienna, runners were able to sign up online and do a walk-up to participate in the event, as well as purchase pies from Mandala Bakery which was located next to the start and finish line of the 5K. Mandala pies owner tells us they fell in love with Vienna after opening their business almost a year ago and wanted to give people a reason to stop by the town.

“The goal was to create an event to get people here and that’s what we’ve done the turn out was amazing over 140 people registered online with another 10 coming in as a day one walkup this morning it is amazing,” said Mandala Pies Owner Caitlin LaComb.

She tells us, they are planning on having the event return yearly, and hope to raise money for local police and fire departments and help strengthen the Vienna community.
