Delaware State Police investigating fatal crash in Dover


DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Saturday morning on White Oak Road.

Police say around 8:15 a.m., a 59-year-old man was driving a 2002 Toyota Highlander eastbound on White Oak Road toward Bayside Drive. The Toyota drifted into the opposite lane and off the road. Police say the Toyota went into a ditch before hitting a large tree. The Toyota then rolled onto its roof. Police say the driver was taken to BayHealth Kent Campus where he was pronounced dead. Identification of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.

White Oak Road between Bayside Drive and Long Point Road was closed for about 3.5 hours while investigators looked into the crash and the scene was cleared. The crash is still being investigated. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Master Corporal Booth at 302-698-8451.
